Voice Drift Audit — 8 May 2026¶
Phase 2 deliverable. Each live planet was audited against Sush's voice fingerprints (
reference/voice-and-tone.md+plain-ai-voice-guardrail.md+ the cosmos belief markers). Atmosphere autonomy is preserved — CMD stays terminal, Shift stays newspaper, Plain AI stays plain-English reading site, Agentic stays cockpit, Claw stays study-reference. The audit is for belief drift, not register drift.
How to use this doc
- Phase 3 (About-page rewrites) picks up the ✅/🟡/🔴 verdicts and the per-planet edit lists below.
- Phase 4 (logo audit) picks up the gap notes at the bottom.
- This is a point-in-time capture (8 May 2026). Re-audit after each major content push.
Methodology¶
For each planet I read:
- Homepage hero —
<h1>, deck/sub, primary CTA copy - About page — full page text (where one exists)
And compared against:
- Voice fingerprints (from
voice-and-tone.md): "What overflows lands here", "For people like us", "In my head, I'm still the curious intern", "Honest take?", "Coffee chat" - Forbidden words (from
plain-ai-voice-guardrail.md+ voice-and-tone brag-allergy): frontier · ecosystem · multimodal · agentic capability · in layman's terms · AI-powered · robust · scalable · holistic · synergies · game changer · mission-critical · moat · differentiator · flagship · premium; self-stat blocks ("100K subs", "X+ years", "used by Y"). - Belief markers: no gatekeeping · plain English · honest take · curious-learner posture · no brag · no fake scarcity · day-job framing OK · voices > numbers
- Atmosphere fit: does the dialect match the planet's register?
Verdict summary¶
| # | Planet | Hero | About | Verdict | Top action |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 🌍 Earth | ✅ Gold | ✅ Gold | ✅ Baseline — no drift. Earth IS the canonical voice. | Nothing to fix; this is the reference. |
| 1a | 🌑 Guided (Moon) | ✅ Strong | n/a (uses Earth's about) | 🟡 Mild drift in FAQ section. Hero is on-brand. The 12 homepage FAQ entries lean corporate-feature-list. | Rewrite 4 of 12 FAQ entries in Sush's voice. |
| 2 | 🪐 CMD | ✅ Strong | 🟡 Has TODO + stale | 🟡 About has a TODO placeholder + stale cosmos map. Hero is exemplary terminal voice. | Fill the TODO with Sush's voice; update cosmos map (still says "ai for grandma" for next planet). |
| 3 | 🪐 Shift | ✅ Gold | ✅ Gold | ✅ Strong — no drift. Voice fingerprints all present. | Cosmos map renders only 4 emoji + local taglines — needs 3 added. |
| 4 | 🪐 Plain AI | ✅ Gold | ✅ Gold | 🟡 Strong voice; one stale reference. | About says "Brain Bar (a launcher)" — should be CMD. Mischaracterises Shift as "data-cool guides for tech roles". |
| 5 | 🪐 Agentic | ✅ Strong | 🔴 MISSING | 🔴 No about page. Colophon is technical meta, not who-we-are. | Phase 3 P0: write /about/ page in Agentic register. |
| 6 | 🪐 Claw | ✅ Strong | 🔴 MISSING | 🔴 No about page. Same as Agentic — section blurbs do voice work but there's no proper About surface. | Phase 3 P0: write /about/ page in Claw register. |
Headline finding: Hero copy is on-brand across all 7 planets. The drift sits in two places: (a) Guided's homepage FAQ block, (b) the absence of About pages on Agentic + Claw, and (c) stale cross-planet references in CMD and Plain AI's About pages.
Per-planet detail¶
1 · 🌍 Earth — aguidetocloud.com (the baseline)¶
Files read: aguidetocloud-revamp/layouts/index.html · aguidetocloud-revamp/layouts/about/single.html
Hero verdict: ✅ Gold standard. Reference for the rest.
What works (every other planet is measured against this):
- "Cloud & AI shouldn't feel this hard." — empathetic, plain, zero jargon
- "In my head, I'm still the curious intern — figuring it out for myself first, simplifying it until it actually clicks." — the canonical phrasing
- "What overflows lands here." — the spine metaphor
- "For people like us." — audience signal, on-brand
- Pull quote in
@lalitds's voice, not a stat block - Door descriptions name pricing honestly ("From $9 USD per cert") and accessibility ("No sign-up, runs in your browser", "Stop guessing", "Free on YouTube")
- "More from learners" section uses 3 voices (
@pablonleon,@yourdream8,@maestus6) — not numbers
About verdict: ✅ Gold standard.
Hits every belief marker:
- "a Sr AI Solution Engineer at Microsoft New Zealand by day, and an introvert who'd rather sit in the shadow than the spotlight by night" — both/and identity
- "In my head, I'm still that curious intern — figuring it out for myself first, simplifying it until it actually clicks. What overflows lands here."
- "I still get butterflies before every customer meeting. After 18+ years, every new product, every new conversation still feels like learning from scratch." — vulnerability, no expert-pulpit
- "Coming from a non-English-speaking background, I know how hard tech feels when the docs are dense and the paid courses cost more than your rent." — empathy + audience signal
- "It's not strategy. It's overflow." — anti-marketing punchline
- "mastery is a moving target anyway" — humility, no fake authority
Recommended action: None. This is the reference voice. When in doubt, copy from here.
1a · 🌑 Guided — aguidetocloud.com/guided/ (Earth's Moon)¶
Files read: guided/src/pages/index.astro (44KB — hero + FAQ block)
Hero verdict: ✅ Strong.
What works:
<h1>"practice exams that don't gatekeep." — perfect- Subhead "$9, not $79. free study guides forever. no signup, no account." — anti-gate, honest pricing
- Status badge "study guides free forever — no account needed" — pricing-as-moral-feature
- BaseLayout description "Every answer explained — why it's right and why the others aren't." — honesty over salesmanship
FAQ block: 🟡 Mild drift.
The 12 homepage FAQ entries (homeFaqItems) are factual but several drift toward corporate-feature-list voice. Specific lines:
| # | Drift quote | Drift symptom | Suggested rewrite |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | "What is Guided? … It features study guides, practice exams with X+ questions, flashcards with spaced repetition, and exam simulation — all built by someone who actually sat the exams." | Feature-list dump; "platform" implied; corporate framing | "Cert prep that doesn't gatekeep. Free study guides for {n} certs across {v} vendors, $9 practice exams (not $79). Built by someone who actually sat the exams and writes plain-English explanations, not vendor spin." |
| 9 | "Guided is the only platform offering free study guides forever plus premium practice exams with 3 study modes." | "premium" = forbidden marketing word; "the only platform" = unverifiable boast | "Most cert prep sites either gate the study guides or charge $79+ for practice exams. Guided does the opposite — guides are free forever, practice is $9. Every question explains why each answer is right and why the others aren't." |
| 9 (cont) | "Features like adaptive question selection, confidence tracking, per-question timers, gamification (XP, streaks, badges)…" | XP/streaks/badges contradicts Plain AI Curriculum philosophy ("Permanent NO list"). Out of register for Sush's brand. | Strip "gamification (XP, streaks, badges)" — keep "adaptive question selection, confidence tracking, per-question timers" only. Verify these are all actually shipping; if any are aspirational, remove. |
| 12 | "Guided is built by Sutheesh, a Microsoft Copilot Solution Engineer based in New Zealand who started as an infrastructure admin." | Uses "Sutheesh" — Sush's instructions say use "Sush" in conversational copy (Sutheesh only for formal/legal contexts) | "Guided is built by Sush (Susanth Sutheesh), a Microsoft Copilot Solution Engineer in New Zealand who started as an infrastructure admin and still gets butterflies before every customer meeting." |
What works in the FAQ that should stay:
- "every cert includes 20 free practice questions, no account needed" — accessibility framing
- "No — Guided works entirely in your browser with no account required." — anti-gate
- "email aguidetocloud@gmail.com within 7 days of purchase for a full refund, no questions asked" — trust, honest
Standalone About page: Guided does not have its own /guided/about/ page — it inherits Earth's /about/. Per Sush's lock (8 May), Guided gets its own logo + own one-liner for cross-planet referencing but does NOT need its own About page (One Body Two Organs). Phase 3 instead adds a "what is Guided" pull-quote near the top of Earth's About + the Guided cross-link block.
Recommended action (Phase 3):
- Rewrite FAQ entries 1, 9, 12 (above)
- Strip the gamification language entirely OR rewrite as "no gamification — just questions, explanations, and confidence tracking"
- Verify "spaced repetition with Again/Hard/Good/Easy" is shipping; if so, keep — it IS a real feature
- Update OG description to drop "Multi-vendor certification prep platform" (uses "platform" = generic) — replace with "$9 practice exams + free study guides for {n} certs"
2 · 🪐 CMD — cmd.aguidetocloud.com¶
Files read: aguidetocloud-revamp/brainbar/layouts/index.html · aguidetocloud-revamp/brainbar/layouts/_default/about.html
Hero verdict: ✅ Strong terminal-register voice.
What works (terminal-blunt is on-brand for this planet):
<h1>stop googling microsoft.</h1>— direct, command-line- prelude
cmd — the microsoft jargon AND error code decoder— descriptive, no spin - capability
// type a microsoft term · open a portal · decode AADSTS50105 · all in plain english— terminal comment style, "plain english" badge twice - All-lowercase + JetBrains Mono = atmosphere lock-in
- Featured strip captions name-only — no "trending", "popular", "hot" inflation
About page: 🟡 Two issues.
What works:
- "cmd is the answer i kept needing for myself. once it existed, it overflowed naturally into something other people could use too — that's the pattern across every tool on a guide to cloud." — uses Sush's overflow metaphor in CMD register
- "infra admin background. not a developer by training." — honest day-job framing
- "no fluff, no gatekeeping, no five paragraphs of seo. just the answer." — voice-perfect
- Cosmos map narrates "each planet has its own atmosphere — own font, palette, voice, tech choice"
🔴 Issue A — TODO placeholder still in production:
<p class="bb-plain">
<em>{{/* TODO sush: add a sentence or two of personal voice here when you're ready —
what cmd means to you, who it's for, anything you want first-time visitors to know */}}</em>
</p>
The <p> renders empty <em></em> text on the live site (the {{/* */}} is a Hugo comment). Sush has a draft pull-quote opportunity here.
🟡 Issue B — stale cosmos map:
"ai for grandma" is the working name — the live planet is Plain AI (plainai.aguidetocloud.com). The map is missing Shift (already live), Plain AI (already live), Agentic (already live), and Claw (live under noindex). Currently the map shows Shift and Plain AI as separate planets but then the "next planets" section duplicates Plain AI under its old name.
Recommended action (Phase 3):
- Remove the TODO placeholder — replace with a short personal-voice paragraph. Suggested draft: "Building cmd was selfish. I needed it for myself — every customer call had me re-googling 'wait, did mcas become mdca, or was it the other way?' Once I'd made the lookup, it cost almost nothing to share. If you're an admin, an SE, a student, or just someone who has to write 'm365 e3' in a doc and wants to know what's actually in it — this is for you. No login. No tracking. No paid tier."
- Update the cosmos map to current state (drop "ai for grandma" line; reflect 7 live worlds); reuse the cosmos map shape from
cosmos/cmd/index.mdin this docs portal - Update title
// cmd — the microsoft jargon decoderto// cmd — the microsoft jargon AND error code decoder(matches the home prelude — currently inconsistent)
3 · 🪐 Shift — shift.aguidetocloud.com¶
Files read: shift/src/pages/index.astro (25KB — hero + launcher) · shift/src/pages/about.astro (9KB — full)
Hero verdict: ✅ Gold standard for newspaper register.
What works:
<h1 class="front-question">How fast is <em>your</em> job changing?</h1>— direct, second-person- Deck "How AI is changing 35 different jobs … What it's taking over. What it's changing. What stays human. With sources. No fluff. No doom. No signup." — Sush voice, three-beat closer
- Launcher empty-state "No match for "X". The wire is still growing — tell us about it" — open, conversational, anti-perfectionist
- Newspaper register applied consistently (
FRONT PAGE·EDITION OF MONDAY·LEAD DISPATCH· tier pills)
About verdict: ✅ Gold standard.
What works:
- Lede "It's built by one person. It's free, has no signup, no tracking pixels, and no third-party scripts. Just static pages, with sources, that try to be useful." — anti-platform, Sush voice
- "Anyone whose job has a screen and a deadline" — funny, true, audience signal in plain English
- "The headline says 'AI is replacing X.' The truth is usually messier and more interesting." — honest take vs hype
- "a Microsoft solution engineer in Auckland, New Zealand who spends a lot of weekends figuring out which way work is going and writing it down for people who don't have the time" — humility + day-job framing, no brag
- "Some of these calls will be wrong." — voice gold
- "If a 'Sush's honest take' pull-quote is there, read it. If not, that's deliberate — silence is more honest than forced commentary." — voice rules made visible
🟡 One gap — cosmos map only knows 4 of 7 planets:
const PLANET_EMOJI: Record<string, string> = {
earth: '🌍', brainbar: '🪐', shift: '🪐', plainai: '🪐',
};
const PLANET_TAGLINES_LOCAL: Record<string, string> = {
earth: 'Microsoft cloud tools and certifications',
brainbar: 'every Microsoft acronym, decoded',
shift: 'how AI is changing knowledge-worker roles (you are here)',
plainai: 'plain-English AI explainers, no signup, no ads',
};
After Phase 1.6 manifest expansion, planetsData.planets has 7 entries. The 3 new ones (guided, agentic, claw) will fall through to the default 🪐 emoji and the manifest's tagline. They'll render — just not with Shift's voice-tuned local copy.
Recommended action (Phase 3):
- Add 3 entries to
PLANET_EMOJIandPLANET_TAGLINES_LOCAL. Suggested copy: - Cosmos map entry text says "Microsoft cloud tools and certifications" for Earth, but Earth's actual voice is broader ("certs, tools, mind maps, blog"). Tighten to "the home — certs, tools, mind maps" (matches manifest tagline).
- Update
brainbardisplay name in the cosmos map — Shift will rendernamefrom manifest now ("CMD"), but the local tagline says "every Microsoft acronym, decoded". That's still accurate but consider: "Microsoft jargon decoder · plus error codes" (matches CMD's own positioning).
4 · 🪐 Plain AI — plainai.aguidetocloud.com¶
Files read: plainai/content/pages/about.json (the full About page, JSON-rendered)
About verdict: ✅ Gold standard with 2 stale references.
What works (this is the second-most-on-brand voice in the cosmos after Earth's):
- "if you're curious about something AI-related and don't want to feel stupid asking, you should be able to find a plain-English answer here. Read the gist in 30 seconds. Read the depth if you want." — perfect audience framing
- "It's free. There's no signup, no ads, no newsletter." — brand promise stated upfront
- "is there a catch?" callout: "there isn't one. Free always, no email signup, no ads, no premium tier, no monetisation ever." — anti-gate
- "Most AI explanations fall into one of two camps. They're either jargon-thick (written for engineers who already know) or marketing-thin (written to sell you something)." — honest framing of the gap
- "I'm not a researcher and I'm not a developer — I'm someone who's had to explain AI to non-tech colleagues, parents, and friends a lot of times. What I learn from explaining it overflows into here." — uses Sush's spine metaphor in this planet's register
- "Microsoft does not sponsor, review, or approve Plain AI. This is personal volunteer work, written outside work hours, on personal hosting." — disclosure, perfect
- "If something is uncertain, the page should say so." — honesty rule
- "If a 60-year-old non-tech reader couldn't follow it, simplify." — plain-English rule
🟡 Two stale references:
<p>Plain AI is one of several small sites in the <strong>A Guide to Cloud</strong> family — alongside
<a href="https://aguidetocloud.com">the main learning site</a>,
<a href="https://cmd.aguidetocloud.com">Brain Bar</a> (a launcher for Microsoft tools), and
<a href="https://shift.aguidetocloud.com">Shift</a> (data-cool guides for tech roles).</p>
Issues:
- "Brain Bar" is the legacy name. Per 8 May lock, the brand is now CMD. Update to: "CMD (Microsoft jargon decoder)".
- "Shift (data-cool guides for tech roles)" mischaracterises Shift. Shift is for any knowledge worker (lawyers, doctors, teachers — not just tech). Update to: "Shift (how AI is changing real jobs, role by role)".
- The list does not yet mention Agentic or Claw (live as of 7 May). Add them.
Hero / homepage: Built from categories.json + topics — no salesy copy in the hero (it's the gradient-mesh wordmark + 6-chip search + 4 reading paths + 78 plates). Atmosphere does the talking. ✅ on-brand.
Recommended action (Phase 3):
Rewrite the "A Guide to Cloud family" paragraph in plainai/content/pages/about.json to:
<p>Plain AI is one of several small sites in the <strong>A Guide to Cloud</strong> family — alongside
<a href="https://aguidetocloud.com">the main learning site</a>,
<a href="https://cmd.aguidetocloud.com">CMD</a> (Microsoft jargon decoder),
<a href="https://shift.aguidetocloud.com">Shift</a> (how AI is changing real jobs, role by role),
<a href="https://agents.aguidetocloud.com">Agentic</a> (cockpit field guide for techies building with agents),
and <a href="https://claw.aguidetocloud.com">Claw</a> (plain-English study reference for OpenClaw).</p>
5 · 🪐 Agentic — agents.aguidetocloud.com¶
Files read: agentic-planet/src/pages/index.astro (29KB) · agentic-planet/src/pages/colophon.astro (6KB) · (no about.astro exists)
Hero verdict: ✅ Strong cockpit-register voice.
What works:
<h1>"A field guide for building with agents." — direct, plain- Sub "Vendor docs are pitch. Hacker News is a lottery. This is the cockpit: honest MCP reviews, side-by-side vendor takes, and recipes with measured numbers. Plain English. Built by an engineer who deploys this for a living." — gap framing, honest take, day-job framing
- BaseLayout description "Tools, MCPs, recipes, and honest reviews for techies building with agents. Plain English. No vendor spin." — perfect tagline
- Stats
{stars}★ tracked · {mcps} MCPs · cron {h}h ago— contextual data, not stat-brag (the brag-allergy applies to authority signals, not contextual freshness) - Status kicker
AGENTS // FIELD GUIDE // ONLINE— terminal-cockpit register, in-atmosphere
Note on the word "agentic": The voice guardrail forbids "agentic capability" and "agentic ecosystem" as marketing-speak. The brand name "Agentic" itself, and "agents" (the plural noun), are fine. Hero copy uses "agents" not "agentic" — clean.
🔴 About verdict: MISSING.
Agentic does not have an /about/ page. The closest surface is /colophon — but the colophon is a technical reference (stack, licences, status, who-runs-this disclosure). It does not answer:
- Why does this planet exist? (the gap-in-the-world question)
- What's the editorial slant? (vendor-honest, no spin)
- Who is Sush, in plain language? (the colophon says "Sush, Copilot SE at MS NZ" but doesn't humanise)
- What does "no vendor spin" mean operationally? (verification process)
- How does this planet relate to the others?
The section blurbs on the home page carry voice work that should be lifted into a proper About:
"Vendor docs are pitch. Hacker News is a lottery." "Built by an engineer who deploys this for a living."
🔴 Recommended action (Phase 3 P0): Write agents.aguidetocloud.com/about/. Suggested skeleton (in cockpit register — stroke-icons, mono kicker, dark-only):
▸ ABOUT // FIELD GUIDE
A cockpit for techies building with agents.
§ THE GAP
Most agentic content online is one of: vendor docs (pitch), HN/Reddit
(lottery), influencer posts (shallow), academic papers (impractical),
framework-specific (LangChain-only, etc.). Nobody curates the whole
ecosystem in plain English with honest opinions and working recipes.
Agentic is the cockpit-style alternative.
§ WHAT WE PUBLISH
- MCP reviews (formal scorecards, opinionated)
- Vendor deep-dives (Microsoft, Anthropic, OpenAI, Google)
- Compare matchups (side-by-side, axes-named)
- Recipes with measured before/after numbers
- Live MCP star deltas via 6-hourly cron
- Incidents feed (the things that break)
- Builder log (Sush's own learnings building this)
§ WHO BUILT THIS
Built by Sush (Susanth Sutheesh), Copilot Solution Engineer at
Microsoft NZ. 18+ years in IT. Still feels like the curious intern
on every new product. The takes here are independent — Microsoft does
not review or approve them.
§ THE EDITORIAL RULES
- Forbidden words: frontier, ecosystem, multimodal, agentic capability,
AI-powered, robust, scalable, mission-critical, moat, differentiator,
flagship. Voice-lint enforces this in CI.
- "Live" data is cron-fed, not labelled.
- Microsoft pages carry a disclosure footer.
- 0 sponsored posts. Ever.
§ WHERE THIS SITS IN THE COSMOS
[7-planet cosmos map block — render from planets.json]
§ HOW TO REACH SUSH
- Issues / corrections: GitHub
- General: hello@aguidetocloud.com
- Spotted a vendor pitch in our copy? Open an issue with `[voice]` tag.
The colophon (/colophon) keeps doing its job — technical stack reference. The About is for human framing.
6 · 🪐 Claw — claw.aguidetocloud.com¶
Files read: claw-planet/src/pages/index.astro (9KB — full)
Hero verdict: ✅ Strong study-reference voice.
What works:
- BaseLayout description "A plain-English study reference for the OpenClaw agent runtime. Concepts, setup paths, connections, plugin field notes, use-case recipes, security gotchas, comparisons. Independent guide by Sush — sourced where we have not run it ourselves yet." — verification-states made visible in the meta description
- Section blurbs do voice-heavy lifting:
- "Start here if OpenClaw is new to you. Five-minute orientation, the seven canonical workspace files, a flat schematic of the runtime, and the drawbacks the official docs won't lead with."
- "Sush will run his first setup soon and pages will flip to tested-by-sush as he does." — learning-in-public
- "Independent field notes, not formal scorecards. Each declares what we checked, what we didn't, sources used, and a dispute link." — anti-vendor-spin
- "Currently one deep matchup live (vs MCP-based stacks); more land as Sush gains direct comparison experience." — admits limits
- "Hand-curated. Not a CVE feed." — anti-bloat
- Verification-state pills in margin column (sourced / tested-by-sush / witnessed) make voice visible at a glance
🔴 About verdict: MISSING.
Same issue as Agentic — no /about/ page. The home page IS the index of all 10 sections, which is on-brand for a study reference (atmosphere is "the home page is the table of contents") — but a first-time visitor still needs an About surface to understand:
- Why Claw exists vs reading the official OpenClaw docs
- What "verification states" mean (currently only visible inside section blurbs)
- Who Sush is, in plain language
- What's the relationship to OpenClaw the runtime (the disambiguation)
- Where Claw sits in the cosmos
🔴 Recommended action (Phase 3 P0): Write claw.aguidetocloud.com/about/. Suggested skeleton (in study-reference register — sidebar TOC, §-numbered sections, light/dark, OpenClaw red, Bracket Mark [*]):
§ § § ABOUT § § §
§ 0.1 — What this is
A plain-English study reference for the OpenClaw agent runtime. Written
by someone learning OpenClaw in public. Audience is tech-savvy
practitioners catching up on the runtime — Sush himself plus people
like him.
§ 0.2 — Why this exists
Most OpenClaw content online is one of: official docs (exhaustive,
dense, no opinion), AI-generated SEO tutorials (worthless), vendor
blogs (NemoClaw pitch, not unbiased), HN/Reddit threads (lottery),
academic security papers (impractical). There's no plain-English,
opinionated, honest-take, study-shaped reference. Claw is that.
§ 0.3 — Important: Claw Planet ≠ OpenClaw
- OpenClaw is the runtime (the open-source project).
- Claw Planet (this site) is a doc site that teaches OpenClaw.
The two are related but not the same.
§ 0.4 — Verification states (the legend)
Each page or field note declares one of:
- SOURCED — citation only, Sush hasn't personally tested
- TESTED-BY-SUSH — Sush has run the example or installed the thing
- WITNESSED — Sush has seen this work in production (his own or a customer's)
§ 0.5 — The voice rules
- Plain English.
- Always explain with examples / scenarios / comparisons.
- Always answer "why does this matter" for important concepts.
- Honest take. Honest disagreement allowed (every field note has a
dispute link).
- Quality over speed. No marketing voice. Forbidden words:
frontier, ecosystem, agentic capability, AI-powered, robust,
scalable, mission-critical, moat, differentiator, flagship.
§ 0.6 — Who built this
Built by Sush (Susanth Sutheesh), Copilot Solution Engineer at
Microsoft NZ. Infra admin background, not a developer by training.
Microsoft does not review, sponsor, or approve Claw Planet — this is
personal volunteer work.
§ 0.7 — Where this sits in the cosmos
[7-planet cosmos map block — render from planets.json]
§ 0.8 — How to disagree / correct
Each field note has a dispute link. The Bracket Mark logo is the
disagree-here icon — click it. PRs welcome at github.com/susanthgit/claw-planet.
The home page (sections §1–§10) keeps doing its job — the table-of-contents-as-home-page pattern is on-brand. The About is for the why, the legend, and the framing.
Cross-planet patterns¶
Three drift symptoms repeat across multiple planets — fix once at the cosmos level, mirror everywhere.
1. Stale "Brain Bar" references¶
The 8 May rebrand updated the manifest name field but NOT the prose in About pages. Drift sites:
| File | Current | Fix |
|---|---|---|
plainai/content/pages/about.json |
"Brain Bar (a launcher for Microsoft tools)" | "CMD (Microsoft jargon decoder)" |
aguidetocloud-revamp/brainbar/layouts/_default/about.html |
TODO placeholder + "ai for grandma" in cosmos map | personal voice paragraph + 7-planet cosmos map |
Future drift prevention: any About page that hardcodes a planet name (instead of reading from planets.json) is a drift surface. Phase 3: refactor to read from manifest where practical.
2. Cosmos maps that are out of date¶
Three planets render a cosmos map. Each is hardcoded with old planet counts:
| Planet | Hardcoded count | Should be |
|---|---|---|
| Shift About | 4 (earth, brainbar, shift, plainai) | 7 (+guided, agentic, claw) |
| CMD About | 5 (earth+moon, cmd, shift, plainai, +"next: ai for grandma, trustline") | 7 (+guided as moon detail, agentic, claw); drop "ai for grandma" reference |
| Plain AI About | 3 (main, brain bar, shift) | 6 (+guided, agentic, claw); rename Brain Bar → CMD |
Future drift prevention: each planet should render its cosmos map from the local planets.json mirror with a default emoji + the manifest tagline as a safe fallback. Local emoji + voice-tuned tagline overrides go in a small per-planet dictionary that's reviewed each release.
3. No About page on standalone-physics planets¶
Both Agentic and Claw lack proper /about/ surfaces. They have /colophon (Agentic) or section blurbs (Claw) doing partial work, but a first-time visitor on either site can't find a clean answer to "what is this and who's behind it?"
Phase 3 P0 priority: ship About pages for both, in their respective registers (cockpit for Agentic, study-reference for Claw). Drafts above.
Phase 3 inputs (what About-page changes follow from this)¶
Sorted by priority. All P0 and P1 items shipped 8 May 2026 in this same session.
| Pri | Planet | Action | File | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| P0 | 🪐 Agentic | Write /about/ page (cockpit register) |
agentic-planet/src/pages/about.astro (NEW) |
✅ shipped |
| P0 | 🪐 Claw | Write /about/ page (study-reference register) |
claw-planet/src/pages/about.astro (NEW) |
✅ shipped |
| P0 | 🪐 CMD | Replace TODO placeholder with personal voice | aguidetocloud-revamp/brainbar/layouts/_default/about.html |
✅ shipped |
| P0 | 🪐 CMD | Update cosmos map (drop "ai for grandma", add 7 worlds) | same file | ✅ shipped |
| P0 | 🪐 Plain AI | Update "A Guide to Cloud family" paragraph (rename Brain Bar → CMD; rewrite Shift tagline; add Agentic + Claw) | plainai/content/pages/about.json |
✅ shipped |
| P1 | 🌑 Guided | Rewrite homepage FAQ entries 1, 9, 12 | guided/src/pages/index.astro |
✅ shipped |
| P1 | 🌑 Guided | Strip gamification language (XP/streaks/badges) | same file | ✅ shipped |
| P1 | 🪐 Shift | Add 3 entries to PLANET_EMOJI and PLANET_TAGLINES_LOCAL |
shift/src/pages/about.astro |
✅ shipped |
| P2 | 🪐 Shift | Tighten Earth's local tagline; revise CMD's local tagline | same file | ✅ shipped (rolled into P1) |
Phase 3 SHIPPED — local edits only, no Cloudflare deploy this session. Sush deploys when ready (Guided SLA smoke test before deploy).
After Phase 3 is complete: re-run this audit. Pattern: voice drift is detected by reading top-to-bottom; fixed by surgical line edits; prevented by reading the next session's diff against this doc.
Phase 4 inputs (logo audit)¶
✅ Phase 4a shipped. Comprehensive audit delivered at cosmos/logo-audit-2026-05-08.md. The bullets below were the initial scouting notes — they have been superseded by the formal walk. Some calls turned out to be wrong (Plain AI is a speech-bubble, not a "P-square"; Earth has a lotus, not an "A" badge; Guided has a designed-but-unwired crescent kit, not just an inherited "A").
Initial scouting notes (kept for history — read the formal audit for current truth):
- CMD's
$_launcher — confirmed exemplar. Brand mark IS the launcher prompt. - Plain AI — initial scout said "P-square gradient". Formal audit corrected: it's an outlined speech bubble with a cyan→purple→pink gradient
AItext inside. - Claw's Bracket Mark
[*]— confirmed exemplar. - Shift's pressure dial — confirmed exemplar (with breath + needle-sweep SMIL animations).
- Earth's logo — initial scout said "A badge". Formal audit corrected: Earth uses the lotus webp (
logo_agtc_dark_1.webp). Favicon is☁️cloud emoji (inconsistent with masthead). - Guided — initial scout said "uses Earth's A + cert-prep colour ribbon". Formal audit corrected: Guided has a complete crescent-moon brand kit in
public/brand/(mark + favicon + lockup + OG image + mono + on-dark + stacked + apple-touch) — but none of it is wired. Masthead uses Earth's lotus webp; favicon is the default Astro framework placeholder. - Agentic — confirmed: generic stroke-icon-set planet+orbit mark. Phase 4b primary target.
Family-signal hypothesis (proposed by initial scout, confirmed by formal audit): "the brand mark IS a working interface element from that planet's own UI." Holds for 4 of 5 confirmed purpose-built marks (CMD, Shift, Plain AI, Claw). Earth (lotus = emblem-class) and Guided (crescent = metaphor-class as Moon-of-Earth) need soft carve-outs. Agentic must be redesigned to fit the rule. Full hypothesis test + restated rule in the formal audit doc.
Re-audit cadence¶
Re-run this audit:
- After every major content push that touches any home page or About page
- Before each Phase 3 / Phase 4 session
- Whenever a new planet enters the cosmos (the 8th planet's audit becomes section 8 of this doc)
The re-audit is cheap — read 2 files per planet (hero + about), eyeball against the fingerprints in voice-and-tone.md, append findings here.
Audit complete: 8 May 2026. Build verified clean (mkdocs build --strict exits 0). All file paths above are accurate as of this session. Next session: pick a P0 from the Phase 3 inputs table.
